About Us

Our story began in 1979, in a small greenhouse located in Summit, NJ. In that small greenhouse, annuals, poinsettias, and tropical houseplants were grown. From a small truck, the plants were sold each morning in various New York CIty street markets. In a very competitive market, quality and service were of upmost importance in gaining the edge. Every plant was hand-selected to the highest quality and delivered each day.

In 1982, the small truck turned into a 3,000 sq ft retail store in Springfield, NJ. With the transformation to a retail space, a break was taken from the growing and production of plants. However, the vision to bring locally grown plants directly to the consumer remained strong. Locally grown plants were brought in from surrounding greenhouses and sold to our patrons. It wasn't long before an expansion was needed. The store expanded and at the same time the Floral Department was born. On a weekly basis, fresh cut flowers were shipped in direct from the grower. The Floral Department provided a large scope of services covering everything from birthday arrangements to weddings. It didn't take long for the Floral Department to become well recognized for it's quality and design work. Well known organizations such as Susan B Komen, the PGA of America, and the USGA sought its services. With more than 20 years in Springfield, more room was needed.

The move to the current location in Montgomery Township came in 2005. The expanded space includes almost 200,000 sq ft of covered greenhouses, enabling the return to growing. In addition, the increase in space allows for the area's largest selection and stock of tropical houseplants. Plants are shipped to designers, florists, and garden centers in the tri-state area and as far as Pittsburgh.

In 2006, Blooms at Montgomery Gardens opened, providing a retail garden center and florist. The 18,000 sq ft greenhouse and more than 100,000 sq ft of outdoor space allows us to showcase the largest and finest selection of locally grown plants in the area. From the days of the small truck making deliveries to the present day, the importance of providing our customers with the highest quality of plants and service has not been forgotten.
